2027 Jeep Wrangler Switchback: Mismatched on Purpose, and the Series Finale

Jeep's last Twelve 4 Twelve special edition swaps hoods and doors, adds Gecko green wheel rings, and starts at $66,695. Here's what's on the Switchback.

Jeep spent a full year dropping a new Wrangler special edition every month, and the final one shows up with a hood and doors that don't match. On purpose. Meet the 2027 Wrangler Switchback, the twelfth and last chapter of the Twelve 4 Twelve series.

A year of Wranglers, wrapped up

The series marked Jeep's 85th anniversary and kicked off with the Moab 392 in November 2025. Switchback closes it out. It's built on the Wrangler Rubicon X and comes as a two-door or a four-door.

The mix-and-match paint trick

The whole look comes from swapping parts between vehicles. Jeep pairs Gloss Black and Sting-Gray power dome hoods and doors in contrasting combinations, so the hood and doors on one rig play off each other. The three-piece hardtop comes in either color.

The swap idea reaches the factory floor, too. According to Jeep, Gloss Black and Sting-Gray vehicles are sequenced together on the line, doors get switched during normal assembly, and hoods are swapped at the upfitting center. It's a paint scheme with a logistics plan.

Gecko goes from body color to accent

Gecko is a bright green, and here it moves from body color to accent color. You'll find it on the grille surround, the hood graphic, the swing-gate decal and the beadlock wheel rings. Beadlock rings clamp a tire's edge to the wheel. Jeep says these are the first bright-colored beadlock rings on a production Wrangler.

Black Jeep and Trail Rated badges and black tow hooks round out the outside, which keeps the green from having to share the spotlight.

Inside: Nappa, Sea Salt and a blueprint

The cabin has Global Black Nappa leather seats with a debossed Switchback logo. Sea Salt Nappa covers the instrument panel surround, door armrests and console lid, which Jeep calls a first for Wrangler. Stitching is Pearl and Lime. A Willys satin chrome shifter medallion and a blueprint-style swing-gate plaque finish things off. Jeep says the design draws on gaming and digital culture.

Pricing and when to order

  • Package price: $2,870
  • Two-door MSRP: $66,695, including $1,995 destination
  • Four-door MSRP: $69,995, including $1,995 destination
  • Orders open: November

The release doesn't say how many Switchbacks Jeep plans to build, so don't assume anything about supply. If this one's on your radar, mark November and talk to your dealer early.

Who this one's for

The Switchback is for the Wrangler fan who wants a rig that looks a little different in every driveway. The contrasting hood and doors, the green wheel rings and the Sea Salt interior make it hard to confuse with a stock Rubicon X. Jeep hasn't announced any mechanical changes in this release, so the substance comes from the Rubicon X underneath and the styling on top.

It also closes the book on a year of monthly Wrangler drops. Twelve editions in, Jeep ended on the one where the pieces are meant to trade places.
