Ducati has told India to pencil in the last three months of 2026. That's when the DesertX V2 is due to show up. The price tag? Still hiding behind a curtain.

The pitch, per Ducati: better off-road ability while staying a sensible companion for highway touring. Here's what the details say.

The engine: 890cc of V-twin

Power comes from an 890cc liquid-cooled V-twin rated at 110 hp at 9,000 rpm and 92 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. Ducati says 70% of peak torque is available from 3,000 rpm. For anyone crawling up a rocky climb at low revs, that's the number to circle.

The six-speed gearbox gets shorter lower gears for tough terrain and a taller sixth for highway cruising. Think of it as one set of gears working two jobs. Service intervals are listed at 15,000 km or two years for oil changes.

Chassis and suspension: built for the bumpy bits

The frame is an aluminium monocoque with the engine acting as a structural element, plus a steel trellis rear subframe. Ducati claims this setup adds rigidity, trims weight and makes the bike more predictable off-road. Those are the company's claims, and we haven't ridden it, so file them under "promising."

Suspension is KYB at both ends. Up front is a fully adjustable 46 mm upside-down fork with 230 mm of travel. The rear monoshock gives 220 mm of wheel travel. Gravity will have opinions about your next whoop section, and this is how Ducati plans to answer.

Wheels are a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear, both tubeless spoked. That big front hoop is the classic dirt-bike recipe for rolling over obstacles. Stopping duty goes to Brembo M4.32 calipers biting twin 305 mm front discs.

Fuel, seat height and the rider-friendly bits

  • Tank: 18 litres, and Ducati says it sits lower on the bike.
  • Seat height: 880 mm, with lower seat and suspension options offered.
  • Electronics: cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control and Quick Shift 2.0.
  • Riding modes: six, including Enduro and Rally.
  • Dash: a 5-inch TFT with navigation and cruise control.

The release also mentions a six-axis IMU, the sensor package that tracks lean and pitch so the rider aids know what the bike is doing. An 880 mm seat is tall by any standard, so the lower options matter for shorter riders or anyone who likes both feet planted at a stoplight.

What it means if you ride

If you've been eyeing a mid-size adventure bike with real dirt credentials, the DesertX V2 is worth watching. The long-travel suspension, 21-inch front wheel and Enduro and Rally modes all point toward trail use. The taller sixth gear and cruise control suggest Ducati wants it to handle the highway slog to get there.

Pricing is the missing piece, and Ducati hasn't announced it. Until it does, you can study the spec sheet, measure your inseam against that 880 mm seat and keep the fourth quarter of 2026 circled on the calendar.
