Lance 1191 Slide: The Flagship Truck Camper Gets a Pop-Out Wall

Lance added a slide to its 1191 truck camper, and it starts at $60,289. The slide adds about 341 pounds, so bring a one-ton dually.

Most campers make you pick between square footage and the ability to park somewhere normal. Lance's new 1191 Slide wants to cheat that deal by hiding a 16-inch bump-out inside a wall that goes back in when you're done with it.

It's a slide-out version of the company's flagship 1191 truck camper. Per Lance, it's a hard-side, single-slide, dry bath model built for long bed trucks. (Dry bath means the bathroom has its own shower space instead of the whole room doing double duty as the shower.) Units are shipping to Lance dealers now.

The slide: 72 inches long, 16 inches out

The slide runs about 72 inches long and extends 16 inches at camp. It rides on Lippert's HappiJac under-floor system. Lance says the 1191 framing was designed with a slide in mind, so this isn't a bolt-on afterthought.

The part worth noticing is what happens when the slide stays home. Lance says it intrudes only about eight inches into the interior when retracted, and the bathroom, kitchen, refrigerator and cabover all remain usable. Camp in a tight spot, skip the deployment, still make dinner.

What changed inside

The dinette is the big shift. It's a face-to-face layout that converts to a 79 by 37.5 inch bed. Lance raised it to clear the slide mechanism, and that bought some storage: two locking pull-out drawers, plus an optional bunk bed. The trade is that the overhead dinette cabinets from the non-slide model are gone.

The rest of the spec sheet, per the release:

  • 45 gallon fresh tank, 31 gallon grey tank, 24 gallon black tank
  • Two 30-pound propane tanks
  • Interior length of 11'11", width of 96 inches, height of 6'6"
  • Same options as the non-slide, including the EZ Off-Grid Camping Package with lithium batteries, a Victron inverter/charger and up to 1,200 watts of solar

Price and weight: the bill for a bigger living room

Base MSRP is $60,289. The non-slide 1191 is $55,949, so the slide costs $4,340 on the sticker. Base dry weight is 3,930 pounds, with the slide accounting for about 341 of those.

That's where your truck comes in. Lance says the camper is best matched to one-ton dually trucks, and it lists the center of gravity at 60 inches from the front wall. Gravity doesn't negotiate, so check your truck's payload numbers before you fall for the floorplan.

Lance also says that since the non-slide 1191 debuted, it added pantry shelving and trimmed 130 pounds from the production version. Warranty is one year bumper-to-bumper and two years structural. The company adds that another new model and 2027 updates are on the way, so this may not be the last Lance news this year. Details come via Truck Camper Magazine.

Who should care

If you already run a one-ton dually and spend long stretches at camp, the slide is the pitch: more room when parked, a camper that still works when it's tucked in. If you're in a smaller truck, the weight and dually recommendation are your cue to read the fine print first. Either way, it's a reminder that a camper's best trick is making a small space feel less small.
